ROLE CENTER

The Role Center acts as your “landing page” in PrintVis, this is a first thing you see when you log-in.

Role Centers look differently for different kinds of users.

For example, a production coordinator may see this:

While a shop floor operator will see this:

Depending on the permission setup, you may see more than one Role Center available to you.

To do that, navigate into “Settings” – “My Settings”:

A new window opens. Click on this “Edit Assist” button:

See the available Role Centers:

* Note: your company may have a specific pre-configured Role Center assigned to you already.

Role Center tiles give you a quick real-time status of your daily activities, for you to take appropriate action.

For example, if you see 38 Cases that are “delayed”, you will click on the tile:

A new filtered view page will open.
There you will see all “delayed” PrintVis Cases for which you are responsible.

A “delayed” Case is a Case that has an expired Status Code.

An "expired" Status Code has a "past due" deadline date.

For example, if today is July 26, PrintVis shows me all my Cases that have an “expired” deadline:

Responsibility gets determined by the system based on the setup and it is not a part of this document.

Click this "Company Name" link t
o return to Role Center. This works on any page.

GLOBAL SEARCH – “TELL ME”

The best way to search for anything in PrintVis / Business Central without having to memorize the menu options is to use this “Global Search” menu (also called “Tell me”):

Click on the magnifying glass button and type into a search window:

As you type, search results will appear even before you complete your full sentence.
You will see all pages, reports and documents that fit your search criteria.

The system also understands some common typos and still returns the results, for example:

MENU NAVIGATION

A – Application bar.
B – Navigation links area.
C – Action links area.

Application bar:

Navigation links area contains “top-level” and “self-service” menu choices:

“Top-level” menus are not editable, you click on them to see the “sub-menu” option:

“Self-service” menus can be personalized – to hide what you don’t want and add what you do want.
For example, all grey links you see below are hidden:

Links can be hidden or re-positioned when you “Personalize” your profile.

New links can be added to your Role Center by searching and hitting this “Bookmark” button:

*Note: depending on the company user setup policies, you may not be allowed to personalize your profile.

Action links area:

Clicking on an “action” link will start something new, not just open a page.

For example, if I click on the “+ Case Request” link, I will start a new blank Case Card that will be assigned a REQUEST status:

ESCAPE KEY (Esc)

Use the Esc key to quickly close any window and go back to the previous screen.
In some cases, some screens either do not have the “close” button, or this button is located somewhere at the bottom, forcing you to scroll down and find it. The Esc key avoids all that.

*If you hit the Esc key and the window does not close, make sure it is “active” by clicking anywhere inside – I usually click at the top, in the blank area:

“BACK” BUTTON

An alternative way to close the window and go back to the previous screen is to click on this “back” button:

“SAVE” BUTTON

Business Central / PrintVis does not have a “Save” button!
Once you’ve entered the data into one of the cells and hit the “Tab” button on your keyboard, the system will save the data right away.
You will never lose anything because you forgot to “save”.

FACT BOX

Many pages will have a “Fact Box” – a column on the right:

Once you’ve selected a line on the page, the fact box shows you more details.
For example, if you select a customer record, the fact box will show you the customer’s billing history, etc. - without opening the Customer Card page.

If you do not need to see the fact box and prefer to have more space on the screen, click this button to hide the fact box:

DIFFERENT PAGE VIEWS

On each page, you may choose a different “view layout”:

Example: switching from “List” view to “Tiles”:

Notice that if you have a picture associated with the record, the tiles will show a picture:

DRILL DOWN

The system allows you to look up a lot more detail by “drilling down” on a specific data link.

For example, if I click on the “Quantity on Hand” on the Items page,

I will see a new page that shows me a complete Item transaction history:

From here, I can drill down further. If I click on the “Sales Amount”, I will see the “Item ledger” entry:

Everything in PrintVis is interconnected, allowing you quickly look-up the information you need!

* As you drill deeper into the “rabbit hole”, the system will open a lot of windows on top of each other!
Use the “Esc” keyboard button to quickly close all these when done.
