Business Central Password Authentication

Most common way to setup PrintVis office users is to set them up first as Business Central / Windows Active Directory users:

- then set them up as PrintVis users and link to an Active Directory user profile:

However, users can also access PrintVis with a Business Central password.

This does not require active directory user setup. If you know the password, you can log into PrintVis.

One of the examples of this kind of user in “real life” would be a Vendor remote login.
We can setup a special filtered page for a vendor and give them password. Anyone on their end can log into PrintVis from that point.

Obviously, any action within PrintVis will be logged against this “generic” username.

More info posted on PrintVis support portal (requires separate login and password):

NavUserPassword (old name for Business Central password)
With this setting, authentication is managed by Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server but is not based on Windows users or Active Directory. The user is prompted for username/password credentials when they start the client. The credentials are then validated by an external mechanism. Security certificates are required to protect the passing of credentials. This mode is intended for hosted environments, for example, where Microsoft Dynamics NAV is implemented in Azure.
